Step 3: Choose your course
The Alliance Française can offer:
French at your desk
Minimum disruption to your work schedule with tailor-made tuition
(available at any level) at your premises. Training programmes are
ideally organised into modules of 30 hours with a minimum of two hours
per week.
French à la carte
Tailor-made tuition (any level) at our premises that gives the most
flexible approach for short to medium term training needs: from
semi-intensive programmes over a few days to weekly 2 hour sessions
over a few months.
Speciality French
For the Legal, Hotel & Catering, Tourism Professions. Other specialities on request.
Three-day immersion course
Three consecutive days immersion - (intermediate and advanced levels) -
6 hours per day with a variety of tutors, at our or your own premises.
Ideal for those who need an urgent refresher course.
French over the phone
For people who often deal with French speakers over the phone
(managers, bilingual secretaries etc.). You do not even have to leave
your desk for it, simply agree a day and a time in advance, and spend
20 minutes speaking French to a specially trained French native
teacher. Minimum level: intermediate, 10 sessions minimum. £190 for 10 sessions.
Step 4: Progress Evaluation
A progress report is made every 30hrs by your instructor to
ensure proper progress monitoring. A final evaluation is conducted to
check if you have met your objectives.
Step 5: It's time to start
You set the timetable and the start date. We select the right trainer(s) and teaching materials. Et voilà, you speak French!

1. General Policy
1.1. Fees are effective from 01/08/2012 and payable in advance. They are not subject to V.A.T. 1.2. Course fees do not include books. 1.3.
A free evaluation/advice service is provided at the Alliance française
de Manchester by appointment to help you decide which course is best for
you. 1.4. We regret that payment of fees by instalments is not accepted. 1.5.
The Alliance française de Manchester is closed for 2 weeks over
Christmas, 1 week over Easter and on Bank Holidays. However, courses
which fall within these dates will be rescheduled accordingly. 1.6.
As part of our ongoing service to help you enjoy the French language
and French-speaking culture, everyone studying with us is entitled to
free membership of the Alliance française de Manchester for one year.
This includes: borrowing rights at our Médiathèque francophone
(library); concessionary rates for cultural events at the Alliance
française and at the Cornerhouse cinema (for French-speaking movies) and
discounts with our partners. 1.7. The Alliance française de Manchester reserves the right to refuse admission.
2. Group Courses Policy
2.1.
Students sponsored by their employer must supply an official order form
from the company stating that they will be responsible for the payment
of fees. An invoice will be issued after presentation of the order form.
2.2. Classes are planned for a limited number of students. For this reason fees cannot be refunded or transferred under any circumstances once a course has started. 2.3.
No total or partial refund can be granted for classes not attended. The
Alliance française de Manchester cannot accept any responsibility for
unforeseen changes in students’ circumstances that may prevent
attendance. Students are advised to examine their personal commitments
(family, employment, health, etc.) carefully prior to enrolment. 2.4. Tuition fees are refundable ONLY if requested in writing to the Course Director (courses@afmanchester.org) before the first class
of the course. The following charges will apply: £15 if the written
request is received more than 10 days before the course starts, 25% of
the total course fee if the request is received after this. 2.5.
Course fees will be refunded if a course is cancelled or closed due to
an insufficient number of students, or for any other reason beyond our
control.
2.6. Course books fees are not refunded under any circumstances. 2.7. Any refund will only be done by cheque. Please note this procedure may take some time. 2.8.
Please note that if a course proves to be inappropriate, transfer to
another one is possible only within the same enrolment period and during
the first two weeks, depending on availability. We cannot prorate
classes or transfer unused class time to another semester. 2.9. We
advise you to enrol at least five days before the course commences.
Courses may be cancelled in case of an insufficient number of students
enrolled. 2.9. Unless otherwise specified, our classes are limited to 16 students per class. 2.10. Payment of the enrolment fees indicates that the student agrees to the terms and conditions.

Course: You are able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular conversation with native speakers possible without strain for either party. You will work on authentic materials prompting you to debate issues, discuss problems,develop your ideas or tell anecdotes. Grammar points will include using correct temporal prepositions to express starting dates, duration or simultaneity, being able to ask questions relating to time (how long, since when etc...),the use of tricky reflexive verbs, the various ways of using negations, how to distinguish between present participles and adjectives in "ant" and how to use linking words to improve fluency in speech.
