Since 1997, the Alliance française de Manchester plays a vital role locally in promoting the French language and French speaking cultures in the region. Registered Charity, this centre dedicated to French is situated in the heart of the city of Manchester. Besides its teaching activities, the Alliance Française has a French speaking library open to all and organizes or works with its different partners for various cultural events. It is also a an exam centre for DELF/DALF, TEF and DAEFLE. The Alliance française de Manchester forms part of a UK network of 11 Alliances françaises and a worldwide network of more than 1000. Finally, since its creation, the Alliance française de Manchester is supported in its activities by the French Embassy in the United Kingdom and the French Institute in the United Kingdom. It also implicates resolutely with a European view by enjoying links with the Goethe Institut and the Instituto Cervantes in Manchester.
